The Children & Family Services Department offers support services that focus on healthy lifestyles and client empowerment. With the promotion of healthy eating, increased physical activity, making proactive choices in taking care of health concerns, and enriching family dynamics, we work toward outcomes that will positively change our community.
Through the Parents as Teachers Program, parents are empowered to be their child’s first teacher by increasing parent knowledge of early childhood development and improving parenting practices. Graduates of the Parents as Teachers Program score higher on kindergarten readiness tests, are better problem solvers, and are more advanced in language and social development. Screening young children birth to five (5) years old for developmental delays.
