A program of the Crisis Assistance & Self-Sufficiency Services Department.
Each year at the beginning of the school year, the FBISD Social Worker/Case Worker identifies students who fall under the following: “These meals are for students that are either living in hotels, motels, homeless, have parents that are not providing for different reasons.”
Catholic Charities-Flour Bluff with the help of private donors, Knights of Columbus (St. Paul and St. Andrew), Catholic Daughters (St. Paul), and other ministries in our Flour Bluff Communities helps provide weekend meals for the students. In 2019, we completed 45 weekend meal bags for students each week and this year we do 40 bags each week.
The students who receive these bags are beyond grateful. Each year we receive the best heart felt “thank you” letters from students who receive the weekend bags, but we also receive “thank you” letters from students who want to show us how grateful they are for us helping their friends in need.
“Dear Catholic Charites, I want to thank you for helping feed those that can’t afford the food. Me and my family once took a family in our own home to help them and get them off the beach, that family had a little girl that got these and it really made her day. Thank you lots”
“Dear Catholic Charities, thank you so much I get one every Friday and it helps me so much you are doing a good job”
“Dear Catholic Charities, I would like to thank you for donating to FBISD. We really appreciate your donations because some families are unfortunate and can’t afford food and snacks for their kids, but because of Catholic Charities donation of 45 snacks packs per week every kids has a meal thank you again.”
