Since 1965, Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi has lived the Gospel and the teachings of the Catholic Church through its programs and services. Today, we dedicate ourselves to providing help and creating hope in the lives of those who are in need and are vulnerable. We are working to ensure that those in need within the Diocese of Corpus Christi are cared for.
Pope Benedict's first encyclical, "Deus Caritas Est" ("God is Love"), reminds all Christians and people of faith that we must reach out to those who have less than we do. A Christian cannot stand on the side-lines when a brother or sister calls out for help. Each of us has the capacity to love and bring hope into the world. This is the life every Christian must live.
In an exceptional way, Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi belongs to everyone within the Diocese of Corpus Christi. As we celebrate life we renew our commitment to provide services to people in need and to address social ills that undermine the dignity of the person. As Pope Benedict declared in "Deus Caritas Est," charity is as essential to the Church as the Word and the Sacraments. One cannot exist without the other. Through the Word and the Sacraments lie the heart of the Church, charity is its soul.
Each year we are privileged to serve over 100,000 people through our programs. Catholic Charities is grateful to many donors who help us in our mission. As we celebrate life we humbly thank God for those who generously give.
As we continue our journey, let us evoke Christ's words: "Without Me, you can do nothing" (John 15:5). Once again, we thank God for the opportunity to serve you!
