The Food Insecurity Program was developed in 2011 with the sole purpose of eliminating food insecurity for 25.6% and, hunger for 19.3% of children and families throughout the 12 County areas of the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
In 2012, Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc. distributed over 646.7 tons or 1,293,400 pounds of food to families and individuals throughout our Diocese. As we celebrate our 49th Anniversary of serving the 12 County area of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, we reflect on our Mission that calls us to "provide services to people in need, and to address the social ills that undermine the dignity of the person." Our Mission is a pledge to serve those who have been entrusted to us. One of our seven (7) "Principals of Catholic Social Teaching" addresses hunger in a profound way as the Option for the Poor and Vulnerable.
