This is a full-time position offering 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and Saturdays as needed.
Parents as Teachers is brought to parents in their homes by trained parent educators whose goal is to help them build on their own strengths – using the most up to date research on brain science, child development, and early learning – as they interact with their children. In this way, parents become teachers in the normal course of interacting, playing with, and enjoying their children, and their children stand a better chance of beginning school fully ready to learn and succeed.
Parents as Teachers’ mission is to provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. This mission is accomplished through partnerships with organizations that adopt the model and become affiliates, programs utilizing the variety of professional development materials, and individuals supporting families in their practice.
Parent educators work with families on two levels: on one level, observing and facilitating growth in parents and children and, on another, reflecting on and monitoring their own feelings and interpretations.
